A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK® Guide) is the standard for the practice of business analysis and is for professionals who perform business analysis tasks.

The BABOK is a must-have resource. It can change the way you perform business analysis by helping you better understand how to use certain techniques and tools.

Let's accept it, the BABOK guide version 3 is a big book. It has a total of 514 pages (aggregate). Setting aside the TOC and indexes, the guide still has 491 pages.

The Business Analysis Body of Knowledge Guide (BABOK Guide) is a book published by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) that offers business analysts (BAs) techniques for using data to enhance an organization's workflow processes, technology, products, and services.

I read BABOK first and in details that is reading about 20 pages per hour, with about dedicated 3-4 hours daily, and finishing whole BABOK in under 7 days. How long does it take to pass CBAP? ›

We recommend 100 hours of study time, which can be reduced if you take a class like our CBAP Certification Prep class. The time you can devote to studying will determine how long that takes. Let's say you can spend 4-5 hours a week studying, then it will take approximately 6 months of studying.

The exam is comprised of 150 multiple-choice questions, some of them very difficult, some fairly easy, and most are challenging. Intensive exams like the CBAP or CCBA will typically challenge you by giving you difficult questions at the beginning. Don't get intimated by this!

Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making are three crucial strengths that are required from a good business analyst.

Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats are the four elements of SWOT analysis. Strengths and Weaknesses are “internal” factors, whereas Threats and Opportunities are “external” factors. The business analyst assigns each element to a quadrant and places the data as the answers for each quadrant.
